Paris, Day 2

A few random musings from the day:

  • The Eiffel Tower is smaller than I thought it would be.
  • The Louvre is significantly larger than I thought it would be.
  • Putting food on the heads of small children so pigeons will land there is the oddest way to earn a living I’ve ever encountered.
  • Nothing is fun if you have to pee.
  • They were still using the guillotine in 1971(?!?!)
  • If eating baguette for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus one smothered in chocolate as a snack is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
  • If you have money, few things are stressful.
  • While poverty and homelessness are global injustices, I am not used to seeing so many senior women living on the streets.
  • It is probably not wise to accidentally wander into a football related protest. If you do, turn around and walk away quickly.

I love the clever murals that create these optical illusions.

His sign said, “Please help me and my pets. I will not sell them or give them .”

  1. the key to a pee if no other option is to use McDonalds & buy a coffee and croissant to get the bathroom code..if still there try Café Constant 139 rue St.Dominique for amazing quality from a super chef..for public transit would buy a carnet which is a bunch of tickets..loved d’Orsay & Rodin..used a 4 day ticket on the batobus on the Seine and then walked into sites & areas…best ice cream on Ile St. Louis.. had an apartment there when I “retired” & used local shops for grocery items.

  2. Buen Camino Rachel. Your spectacular photos of Paris bring back so many wonderful memories of our May, 2014 visit to Paris, after walking a part of Camino Portugues, and before our memorable visit to Normandy.
We wish you many blessings on this special journey, and will read your blog with great interest. We met you at the Camino coffee gathering several months ago and also heard your presentation at fgmb. Bernie and Maria Lodge
